The obsession with wide-wide-wide plank floors led us to a realization: sometimes it’s better to swim against the current. So we went ultra-narrow with this 2.5” x 25” herringbone, in American White Oak, 100% Made in the USA! Beautiful floor in Prime 59 corporate lounge in San Francisco.

Hotel Vintage - Portland, Oregon SIX YEARS LATER

Design for Performance is key to the long-term viability of a wood floor in a commercial / hospitality setting, and at Thomas Benjamin we love nothing better than to be brought in early in the design process to have input into color, grade, species and finish type.

A properly-designed floor can look fantastic even after 6 years in a busy hotel lobby, restaurant and throughout common areas!

Take a look under barstools and chairs - this floor is performing! Kudos to the maintenance staff at Hotel Vintage for properly maintaining this Rubio oil-finished floor, and re-oiling it as-needed.

Another aspect of the Thomas Benjamin difference is our ability to provide fire treatment to ASTM E-84 Class A/1 standard, essential for wall and ceiling applications in commercial spaces.

The pros at Dawson Design Associates knew this, and tapped Thomas Benjamin to provide Premium Grade American Walnut for not only the floors, but also walls and ceilings in this ultra-cool, adventure-sport driven hotel lobby in Downtown Portland

Revere Hotel - Boston, Mass

We were thrilled to be included in the design of this project from concept to install.

2” x 16” herringbone, each piece hand-distressed and finished three different colors, which were then mixed together to achieve the designer’s vision. Plus, we fire-treated to Class A the small portion that was used as wall treatment.

Definitely a memorable project!

Perry's Steakhouses - our 10th Perry's!!

We have long partnered with Perry’s Steakhouses on wood flooring for their wonderful restaurants, in a variety of configurations including plank and their signature 6” x 42” herringbone.

This installation, while it is not yet finished, requires it’s own post as this is our 10th Perry’s restaurant project! We are so excited to see this beautiful herringbone floor go in! More pics to come when it’s all buttoned-up.

Le Meridien Delfina - Santa Monica, CA

Simple - Classic - Durable

A well-known architect worked with us to design this handsculpted (for durability) white oak floor for the Le Meridien Delfina in Santa Monica, CA. They chose one of our Hickory colors, and asked for it to be custom finished on White Oak.

Beautiful Hickory floor in the Columbine Country Club in Colorado!

Floor started out as American Hickory TB Signature Color 6007. Custom mods included 3/4” engineered (5/8” is standard), custom handsculpting “Timeworn”, and Rustic Grade to complement the mountain aesthetic in this beautiful country club.

This client was smart enough to consult with us at the inception of the project, asking our recommendations for this high-traffic floor.

We suggested Hickory, which is the hardest wood species in North America, with the addition of our “Hewn” handsculpting for added durability, paired with our ultra-hard Ceramic finish.

Colonial Country Club - Fort Worth, TX

What do you do when a designer falls in love with a floor in a photo, which happens to be in a 300-year-old Scottish hunting lodge, and wants that floor re-made for one of the most prestigious country clubs in the country?

You get to work!

We custom-built, handsculpted, finished and pre-assembled this floor in only 6 weeks, and it looks fantastic!

The designers decided they would prefer to switch to Hickory for the added hardness and beautiful color variation inherent in this species.
